Haulage services
Loaden Haulage operates self-unloading walking floor trailers with capacity up to 90m³, designed for loads that are not suited to traditional tipping trailers. The service is used extensively for waste, biomass, RDF, SRF, wood chip, agricultural materials and any loose bulk where overhead clearance, tipping stability or load consistency requires a moving-floor solution.
Operating principle
A walking floor trailer discharges its load mechanically, using a series of moving aluminium slats integrated into the trailer floor. The body remains stationary throughout the unloading process, eliminating the stability risks associated with tipping on uneven ground and removing the need for high-roof discharge bays. Loads may therefore be discharged in confined yards, within buildings, and at sites where tipping equipment cannot be deployed.
For waste transfer stations, biomass boiler installations, material recovery facilities and agricultural buildings, this operating profile is frequently the only practical solution, which accounts for sustained demand for walking floor capacity.
Materials transported
Loaden Haulage walking floor capacity is utilised across the waste, energy and agricultural sectors. Materials regularly transported include RDF and SRF in both baled and loose form, recycled wood chip and biomass pellets, compost and green waste, paper and card bales, glass cullet, grain, animal feed and seasonal agricultural produce.
The company holds the appropriate waste carrier licensing for relevant movements and operates trailers fitted with suitable roof systems and load coverings for both clean materials and process feedstock. Loaden Haulage staff are available to advise on the suitability of walking floor capacity for specific loads.
Typical lanes
A significant proportion of walking floor activity is between waste transfer stations, material recovery facilities, energy-from-waste plants and biomass boiler installations throughout the United Kingdom. The service is structured to accommodate both regular contracted schedules and ad-hoc capacity requirements when established hauliers are unable to provide cover.
All vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking, drivers are trained in waste-site procedures and personal protective equipment requirements, and every movement is recorded against the relevant waste transfer documentation, ensuring full audit traceability.
Walking floor capacity is hard to source at short notice. Loaden have given us reliable cover between our transfer stations and downstream processing — driver paperwork is right every time, and the discharge is handled cleanly at every site.
